Village Vesl runs in the background on your phone and minimizes the amount of time that your GPS needs to be active, automatically preserving battery life. When the device’s GPS is polled (the process of determining device location), Village Vesl searches for nearby flags assigned to your phone – private flags as well as those assigned by subscribed businesses. When there are no nearby flags detected at the last polling interval, polling frequency will decrease. This preserves battery life. However, if there are flags detected within the vicinity of the device, GPS polling will remain active and may increase battery drain. Battery consumption is typically more of an issue on Android devices than it is on iOS.
Most importantly, you can turn off location services at any time and still enjoy most of the features Village Vesl has to offer.
